Our Commitment to Child Safety
Rubix Support is committed to the safety of all children and young people. As a Child Safe organisation, we value every child and young person and every decision we make is governed by our fundamental belief that all children and young people have an inherent right to be safe, supported, grow up healthy, happy, and protected from all forms of harm.
We believe that all children and young people should be supported to express their views, identity and to be heard. Furthermore, we commit to informing children and young people about their rights and providing them with opportunities to actively participate in decisions that affect their lives, and we support them to do so.
Cultural Safety and Inclusion
Rubix Support promotes cultural safety for all children and provides those we support with opportunities to connect with their culture and strengthen their sense of belonging and identity.
We support the rights of children and families living with disability and commit to providing opportunities for children with a disability to safely participate in their community. We understand that every child is different and will experience their disability and the world differently.
Additionally, we commit to developing LGBTIQA+ inclusive practices across all our services and creating welcoming and inclusive environments for children, young people and their families.
Rubix Support also supports the rights and safety of children and young people who are unable to live at home, including those in kinship and out-of-home care (OOHC).
Compliance with Child Safe Standards
Rubix Support complies with both the National Child Safe Principles and the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
These standards are a minimum set of requirements for organisations providing services to children and young people in Victoria. As a result, they ensure the safety of children and young people is promoted, child abuse is prevented, and allegations of child abuse are properly responded to.
Furthermore, we have robust people and culture and recruitment practices for all employees and student placements, supported by training and education on child safety to ensure we can fulfil this commitment. All employees and student placements commit to the child safe principles and expectations outlined within our Code of Conduct.
Reporting and Zero Tolerance
Rubix Support has clear and detailed policies and procedures about how to respond to complaints and allegations of abuse. We actively commit to reviewing these policies and procedures and are working across the sector to continually strengthen our approaches and improve outcomes for children and young people.
There is zero tolerance for any form of child abuse or maltreatment within Rubix Support. We take all allegations and concerns around abuse very seriously, and we will always strive to ensure that children do not experience neglect, abuse, harm or exploitation during their involvement with Rubix Support.
In addition, there is zero tolerance for not reporting any reasonable belief of child abuse or maltreatment, both internally and to external authorities including police and Child Protection. Doing nothing is not an option.
